Legal and organizational anti-mobbing mechanisms – towards a new paradigm of management and culture in the protection of Prison Service officers
Summary
This article analyzes the systemic determinants of mobbing within the Prison Service, characterized as a uniformed formation with a strict hierarchy and a high level of rigor. The objective of this study is to present a three-pillar model for counteracting undesirable behaviors, encompassing legal, managerial, and organizational culture dimensions. The study posits that the protection of an officer’s dignity, grounded in the axiological canon of the Act on the Prison Service, constitutes the foundation of the formation’s security and professionalism. The paper examines the normative framework, including internal complaint procedures and the role of management in eliminating pathologies concealed under the guise of service requirements. The study’s conclusions demonstrate that effective anti-mobbing mechanisms are a prerequisite for professionalism and the protection of the axiological foundations of a modern penitentiary system, and are essential for fostering the service ethos and ensuring a harmonious work environment.
